The Life of Shabnam Zafarmand
Shabnam Zafarmand was born in Iran into a talented family. From a young age, she demonstrated a deep passion for drawing and painting. She learned oil painting from her older brother, Siavash Zafarmand, a professional fine artist in Iran. During her high school years, Shabnam’s exceptional talent was recognized by her teachers and school staff, leading her to win first place in the Tehran district high school art contest.
At 20, Shabnam began teaching art to children at an art school, and soon after, she started teaching fine art at a middle school in Tehran. By the age of 22, she had already participated in two international art exhibitions in Tehran.
In 1997, Shabnam migrated to the United States and later opened her own art school, Mission Art Center, in Orange, California, in September 2005. The school has since become one of the most successful art schools in Orange County.
Unveiling Shabnam’s Artistry
A Journey of Passion and Recognition
Despite her busy lifestyle, Shabnam managed to publicly showcase her artwork. In July 2012, she exhibited her paintings at her studio, which led to her qualification for the Laguna Beach International Art-A-Fair Festival in 2013, where she displayed her work throughout the summer. This experience not only brought her recognition but also provided valuable insights into the world of painting and exposure to various artists.
In February 2014, Shabnam’s story was featured in an article by Bill Johnson in the Orange County Register.
Shabnam specializes in photorealism, impressionism, surrealism, and portrait oil painting. She continues to actively teach art to children and adults at her studio.
Her love for the history of Iran and timeless beauty of the past inspired her to create an evocative collection dedicated to Old Tehran in 2016. Since then, she has completed 15 paintings capturing the essence of Old Tehran and significant moments from Iran’s history.
